This year’s UNLEASH AMERICA conference, held in Las Vegas, is in the books. Guild Chief People and Purpose Officer Dean Carter and neuroscientist Vivienne Ming opened the event with keynotes about purpose and values, and the importance of being human in the age of artificial intelligence. An organization’s purpose should be genuine, authentic and serve society while its values should guide its daily direction, according to Carter. “If you look at those values and if there isn’t a decision you’re making every day about those values, then it probably isn’t a value,” Carter said. Artificial intelligence is powerful but can only “tell us what people already know,” said Ming. As the world moves forward with AI, we should focus on creativity and exploring the unknown. Chatbots can help HR field routine transactions Chatbots are becoming more prevalent in human resources, with the potential to automate transactional interactions and allow HR to focus on more business and strategy. Around 50% to 80% of HR duties that involve answering employee questions could be handled by automated tools, says Paradox President Adam Godson, but Eser Rizaoglu, a senior director in Gartner's HR practice, and others say chatbots should signal when human intervention is necessary for more nuanced issues. Keeping talent among CEOs' top worries, survey finds Workforce challenges topped CEOs' concerns on the Global Leadership Forecast 2023 for the first time in two decades, with 59% concerned about attracting and keeping top talent.
