Reitz offers a four-point strategy for responding to workers' concerns, beginning with listening rather than assuming, and initiating a dialogue.

I love Thanksgiving. A day to express gratitude and enjoy family, food and football. I spent part of my weekend practicing the chocolate-bourbon pecan pie I’ll be taking to my cousin’s house. Later today, I’ll be testing a salmon sushi bake appetizer. (Hawaiian family Thanksgiving dinners are eclectic, to say the least. It’s common for lomi salmon and poi to appear alongside turkey and gravy.)

And on Thursday, I’ll be parked on the couch, next to my nephews, enjoying the feast and watching football. Registered dietician Tara Joyce offers some excellent suggestions in our Health & Wellness story today to help make sure I don’t overdo it. I plan to fill half my plate with veggies and go easy on the appetizers.

But one bite of dessert? Or leaving the crust of my pie? Yeah, I don’t see that happening. Which is why Friday I’ll be at the gym, bright and early.

How are you planning to celebrate Thanksgiving? Let me know! And if you enjoy this brief, tell others so they can benefit also.
