Cutout "MOM" Card for Mother's Day

By 15mhhm15

Cut Out I made my mom this Mother's Day card. It is simple yet sweet because it's handmade. My mom isn't a fan of "real cut flowers", so I thought it would be cute to decorate this card with a flower/floral motif from a Macy's catalog that I was about to toss out anyway!

Donut Pin Cushion - pink frosted donut pincushion on red backgroundThis handmade donut pin cushion is so cute, I just want to bite it! It's great for your sewing box to keep your pins in order, but you could also just make them as plush toys. To make the paper donut stencil, I traced a CD, cut it out smaller, but cut the center out bigger. You can make them whatever size you like.

Heart Tree Mother's Day Card

By 15mhhm15

Heart Tree Mother's Day Card - finished cardMother's Day is around the corner. In school my son is making a Mother's Day project, but he came home wanting to make a card for me. Since I love planting and trees, he suggested a tree card with sparkles. We had heart stickers at home, so I thought that would be a cute touch as the leaves. You can't go wrong with a homemade Mother's Day card; as a sentimental touch it's his hand. :)

Polar Fleece Dish Cloth
If you love to work with polar fleece, like I do, you'll have plenty of scraps. I cut them into 9 inch squares and use as a dishcloth. I was so surprised at how absorbent they are.
Reuse Old Fan Blades and Covers
I had a fan that stop working. I didn't want to throw it away, so I thought of a way to reuse the blades and covers. I used colored tissue paper and wall paper paste for the blades.
Decorate Your Christmas Tree For Every Season

Wall Card for Mother's Day
Finished card ready for hanging.
Save Embellishments Before Tossing Old Clothes
When throwing out old clothing that is too stained or worn for donation, check them for nice buttons, lace, shoulder pads, and other embellishments. You can often use these to redesign other clothing items for a brand new look!
Recycle Old Clothes As Quilting Squares
When I no longer need an item of clothing, I cut it apart at the seams and use the pieces to make quilt squares. I only use 100% cotton, that has been washed many times and will no longer shrink.
Make Beads From Junk Mail
I make beads out of junk mail and make friendship bracelets with them and they are easy to do! Use only the shinny paper that comes in the mail and cut or tear it in strips approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch by 2-3 inches. You will also need a toothpick and glue.
Stretching Your Craft Materials Budget
I love to do crafts, but on a tight income it is often too expensive. Then I hit on the idea of entering them in the county fair. I use the premium money for more craft materials to enter the next year.

Making Paint on Denim Permanent
I just spent over 30 combined hours painting a few pairs of jeans and I'd like them to not fade with washing. I didn't know about making a clear base coat first, so I didn't do that. I just used Tulip fabric paint and painted away. Upon completion I used a Sharpie marker to give it a stroke and go around all the lines. I then ironed it for a few minutes to heat it.
Shrinking Leather Chokers that Are Too Loose
I bought 3 leather chokers with the metal hearts and circles and they have metal clip ins for adjusting. But they don't fit my neck, they are loose. Is there a way for me to shrink the leather without ruining them?
