Dearest friend,

The situation is truly devastating. The death toll crossed 3,800 in the deadly earthquake in Turkey & Syria. Some of them have been reported to be Israeli citizens.

Earlier today, the IDF sent over a team of specialists to Turkey. Their initial goal is to evaluate the situation and communicate it to Zaka and other volunteers. We are already assembling a large team of medical staff, mobilizing all the equipment available, and deploying specialists to fly out to the scene in the coming hours. We are doing our best to help innocent people and we need your help to maximize our efforts.

Since our email this morning, many have stepped forward and donated towards our efforts. Some people, however, reached out to us, questioning why we are eager to help a country that has not always been the greatest ally of Israel in the political arena and beyond. We want to take a moment to address that. We at Zaka Tel Aviv believe it is our job to shed light on others. Besides the fact that some of our people may be under the rubble at this very moment, it is our job to extend our hand in a time of need. Kindness never goes unnoticed.
