CRC Member Exclusive | Clinical Privilege White Paper: Cardiac pacing and arrhythmia management | Cardiac pacing and arrhythmia management involves the use of an implantable device to regulate a patient’s abnormal or irregular heartbeat. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), a heartbeat of less than 60 beats per minute is called bradycardia; a heartbeat of more than 100 beats per minute is called tachycardia. People with uncontrolled arrhythmias are far more likely to suffer heart attacks than people with regular heartbeats. Several mechanical devices can be implanted into a patient’s chest to control an irregular heartbeat and/or to stimulate the heart muscle to pump. |
