Minnesota is headed for a double dose of winter weather in the days ahead. It will start with potential rain and freezing rain tonight for much of the state and turn into snow by Thursday. Find the latest from Updraft. Minnesota is expecting to vaccinate 9,500 people at a new vaccination site at the Minneapolis Convention Center. That includes people 65 and older, teachers and child care providers starting Thursday and through the weekend. Additional sites are opening in Duluth and southern Minnesota in coming days, and will remain open indefinitely.
As of Wednesday, more than than 450,000 Minnesotans have gotten at least one shot of the two-dose vaccine, according to the latest data. The average COVID-19 test positivity rate over the last week is down to 3.2 percent. That’s in the bottom dozen for that figure for all the days of the pandemic. And for three days straight, the number of newly identified cases has also stayed below 800, for the first time since just after Labor Day.
The state also reported today that 24 people died from complications of COVID-19. You can get more of the latest news, in just a few minutes, via the Minnesota Today podcast. — Tim Nelson | MPR News |
