Le programme de formation en direction d'orchestre de l’Academy offre un véritable tremplin aux jeunes musiciens qui sont en passe de diriger des orchestres de premier plan. Lancé en 2018 avec l'arrivée de Valery Gergiev comme Directeur musical du Verbier Festival Orchestra (VFO), en 2019 plus de 120 musiciens ont soumis leur candidature pour ces quatre postes largement convoités. Les candidats retenus sont Nicolas Ellis (Canada), Lucie Leguay (France), Sergey Neller (Allemagne/Russie) et Anna Rakitina (Russie).

The Academy’s Conducting Programme offers a stepping stone to emerging conductors who are on the verge of leading orchestras at the highest level. Launched in 2018 with the arrival of Valery Gergiev as Verbier Festival Orchestra (VFO) Music Director, more than 120 candidates applied for four coveted positions in the Programme’s sophomore year. The successful candidates are Nicolas Ellis (Canada), Lucie Leguay (France), Sergey Neller (Germany/Russia) and Anna Rakitina (Russia).

Les participants au programme deviennent ainsi chefs adjoints du VFO et du Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra (VFCO) et bénéficient de rencontres de mentorat avec les Directeurs musicaux de ces orchestres, Valery Gergiev et Gabór Takács-Nagy, et avec Martin Engstroem, Fondateur & directeur du Verbier Festival.

Conducting Fellows serve as assistant conductors for the VFO and Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra (VFCO) and are offered valuable meeting time with the Music Directors of these orchestras, Valery Gergiev and Gabór Takács-Nagy, and with Verbier Festival Founder & Director Martin Engstroem.

Le 28 juillet, les participants au programme en direction d'orchestre participent à la direction d'un programme de Mozart, Schumann et Chostakovitch avec le Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra à La Chaux. Ce concert gratuit en plein air est rendu possible grâce au soutien de Téléverbier.
 

On 28 July, the Academy Conducting Fellows conduct a programme of Mozart, Schumann and Shostakovich with the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra on the slopes of La Chaux. This free open-air concert is made possible with support from Téléverbier.

Des bourses d'études de CHF 3'500.- à CHF 5'000.- permettent de couvrir une partie des frais de formation des musiciens de la Verbier Festival Academy.
