Olivia Newton-John will be remembered for much by many – she leaves behind an indelible legacy in music, cancer research and wellness – but for me it is difficult to look past her enormous contribution to cancer research as a measure of impact.
Olivia’s generosity and leadership in fostering world-class cancer research will not be forgotten, and she has given Victoria an incredible and lasting asset in the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre. | | |

| | ‘A big heart’: Olivia Newton-John remembered Over more than 20 years, Professor Jonathan Cebon worked alongside Dame Olivia Newton-John AC OBE. The two became good friends and he witnessed her journey as advocate, champion and ultimately, patient, of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.

| | Groundbreaking liver cancer research earns inaugural Tony Burgess Medal Groundbreaking research that is improving screening and diagnoses for liver cancer has earned Associate Professor Jessica Howell the Inaugural Tony Burgess Medal awarded by the VCCC Alliance.
The St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne gastroenterologist will be awarded a $5,000 prize and tonight deliver the plenary address ahead of the VCCC Alliance Postdoctoral Symposium on Friday 9 September. The address has been established in honour of Prof Tony Burgess’s significant contribution to the establishment of the VCCC building and the VCCC Alliance.

| | Dr Sarah Heynemann: Cancer survivorship, or cancer ‘thrivership’? The wisdom of those with a cancer diagnosis is humbling and a sage reminder that healthcare support should not just be about surviving, but thriving.
Survivorship care by necessity is a 'team sport' between consumers, hospital and community-based healthcare providers across various disciplines. I hope to contribute insights from my own clinical and research experience, but likewise hope to learn from participants engaging within the Massive Open Online Course platform!

| | EOI: Host a SKILLED Clinical Trial intern in 2023 The VCCC Alliance has established two clinical trial internships to provide a pathway for science graduates into the highly competitive clinical trials field. The 40-week (Study Coordinator) and 24-week programs include a two-week intensive orientation followed by on-site placement for competency-based training in metro and/or regional locations to build role-specific clinical trial knowledge, experience and skills. |

Olivia's Walk for Wellness Honour Olivia's legacy and bring love and light to those with cancer. We are deeply saddened by the passing of a giant of the cancer community, Dame Olivia Newton-John. Olivia loved people coming together to support those with cancer. That’s why the Walk for Wellness was always very special to her.

Rural Workforce Agency Victoria: 2022 Health Workforce Census Rural Workforce Agency Victoria's (RWAV) annual Health Workforce Needs Assessment is a snapshot of patient needs and health workforce issues in both rural, remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Victoria.
Participation is crucial to understanding workforce and access challenges, directing resources (for RWAV grants, programs, recruitment and outreach services) and guiding advocacy efforts with the government and wider community.
