Key undeveloped site for sale | |
One last buildable site remains on the old Galleria mall site in downtown Worcester: an open space above the Worcester Common Garage between Unum and the cancer care center. The site, which was left open for a building of up to eight stories, is now for sale.
| Another small step forward on PawSox site | |
The Worcester Redevelopment Authority is considering amending an urban renewal plan to include land closer to Kelley Square around the site that officials say is being eyed for a potential baseball stadium for the Pawtucket Red Sox. A larger revitalization district could help spur development around the proposed ballpark.
| Potential housing growth outside downtown Worcester | |
Much of recent residential growth in Worcester has taken place downtown, with more projects on the drawing board. Community development group Worcester Common Ground is proposing a $13-million, 31-unit affordable housing rental project at Chandler Avenue the group hopes will help liven up the neighborhood west of downtown. It would join two other recent proposals outside the city's center: a 90-unit projectoff South Ludlow Street near the border with Auburn, and a 48-unit development in the Main South neighborhood next to The Lofts at Loomworks and Royal Worcester Apartments.
