Waitr is dead. We tried to find out why.

By ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana Business Editor

Welcome to the Monday edition of the Acadiana Business Newsletter. We've got food for your brain this morning, even if it would be more like a brunch. On to today's headlines....

Our big story from the weekend was the deep dive into what happened to Waitr. How did a company that was everyone's favorite local company, sent a contingent to New York to ring the bell to open the stock market in 2018 and lured Saints quarterback Drew Brees in as an investor cease to exist about five years later?

A couple of reasons, namely an ill-fated acquistion of Bite Squad.

This statement from Whitney Savoie, who worked in marketing with Waitr, hit me the most after going through 11 interviews and dozens of SEC filings for this story:

“The Waitr I knew and loved died three or four years ago, and I’m OK with that."

Have a great day and thanks for reading.
