Why ModCloth Broke Up With Black Friday (To Run Off With Cyber Monday)
 
ModCloth may be owned by Walmart now, but it took a very different approach to the Black Friday retail holiday than its parent firm by actually shutting down its site entirely as part of its #BlackFridayBreakup campaign. The same campaign also involved a massive donation of clothes to charity and rewarding local heroes nominated by its users. The initiative netted the brand some good Christmas karma, and even turned some skeptics who were wary of the now Walmart-owned ModCloth. But, as always, haters gonna hate — even with the donation of funds to charity.
