Dear Friend, Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina! IRS Accountability & Oversight Democrats’ latest spending bill gave billions of dollars to the IRS, but failed to ensure oversight on how the money is spent. The truth is that billions of dollars have been allocated to the IRS without audits. Meanwhile, they have faced data leaks compromising sensitive taxpayer information. This week, I sent a letter along with Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, and Finance Committee Republicans to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Comptroller General Gene Dodaro to request an update on issues the IRS had been advised to address. The IRS needs to be held accountable for the billons the Biden Administration has given them to audit the middle class. Click here to read our letter! Shedding Light on "Woke" Policies I joined efforts with Senator Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and five of our Senate Republican colleagues to send a letter to PayPal seeking answers over their recent announcement of a policy change that aimed to penalize customers who shared views classified as “misinformation.” Although PayPal rescinded the policy, my colleagues and I remain concerned about how this woke policy came to be. Read more about our letter here! Last week, I also sent a letter to the President and CEO of PayPal expressing concerns about using their platform to pick political winners and losers. My full letter to PayPal is here. Spilling the #SCSweetTea on the Act of Crocheting This week, I am spilling the #SCSweetTea on Ms. Julia “Judy” Pitts from Spartanburg! During the pandemic, Ms. Pitts crocheted over 170 hats for students from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind to ensure they are kept warm as the seasons changed. It’s easy to think of yourself in challenging times, but to dedicate yourself to helping others in the face of adversity is the mark of a hero. Judy Pitts is a shining example of a hometown hero who is warming hearts and heads. Read more about this story here! Sincerely, |
