The Health Secretary has warned of a possible second peak of coronavirus following a “concerning” rise in the number of cases.
View email online | | | | | Sep 8, 2020 | | | | | | Good evening, Right from the first stirring of the coronavirus pandemic, it has been schools, or more specifically the education of our children, that has been one of the hottest topics amid the new normal. A mixture of ingenuity, intense pivoting (yep, that word I’m afraid) and a large amount of extremely hard work meant that for most parents, teachers and children, the lockdown was negotiated with a mixture of stress and success. The return to school was a huge relief for many parents, guardians and school staff but also hugely concerning. How do you ensure children’s safety amid a pandemic? They are, after all, children. And the answer is you can’t - 100 per cent. But the majority of schools have made every single effort possible to ensure they remain as safe as possible. It’s a giant task with many subtleties. Inevitably, there have and will be more cases in schools. Children may be less susceptible to Covid-19 but the adults looking after them are not. The only thing we know for sure is the Herculean amount of hard work going into this enormous effort to keep our children educated - and socialised.
