Just before Thanksgiving, a federal judge slammed the brakes on an expansion of overtime by the U.S. Department of Labor to cover workers making up to $47,476 annually that was set to begin Dec. 1. Many employers had already instituted changes to deal with the threshold increase from $23,600 and the ruling now leaves many employers in tough spots, after either giving out raises or instituting new time management protocols.
