Dear John, We have a spiritual problem. In the new world of business, the reality is more and more people and companies will shift to remote and hybrid work permanently. In order for this to happen successfully, leadership and team members must TRUST each other and have FAITH that each wants the best for the other. Current bias regarding key work metrics will have to be replaced with outcome, not output, based models. Suddenly our relationships and our business contributions are resting on the intangibles. Without TRUST and FAITH between the stakeholders this is nearly impossible. The currency of Division. Our spiritual problem in the workplace is made 100 times worse by the constant TRUST killing messaging of our News Channels, Social Media, Political Parties, and Governments just to name a few. We are intentionally being DIVIDED by those in power so they can stay in power. DIVISION is their currency that buys them power. It is up to us. No matter your position or role in your business and no matter your position or role in our society, imagine if you knew that those you are interacting with wanted the best for you, and you for them. Would this change the tone of the conversation? Would you listen more? Would they listen more? It’s pretty clear - you can tell how much someone cares about the other person by how well they listen - and that is a two-way street.
