The IETM Sofia Plenary Meeting 2024 offered several key sessions on important topics. As a recap for those who attended and to be discovered by those who could not join us, read our four brand new, commissioned reports from Sofia.

Sensing Earth by Tina Hofman

The aim of this workshop was to gather tangible ideas and proposals on art creation and decision making which serve people and the planet, inspired by the dimensions of the keynote Sensing Earth, delivered by Pascal Gielen.
How do we make it work? by Nan van Houte

This panel discussion addressed the ongoing quest for better working conditions in the arts sector. It offered an insight into the types of solutions in place and the obstacles to their success by shedding light on the nuances crucial for advocating or designing policies in the field.
Mapping the Queer International by Ksenija Đurović and Jovana Marković

This session explored the possibilities of global cooperation, support and fostering of queer art and queer artists. An open and anonymised discussion touched on the complexities of perceiving the term ‘queer’ followed by queer identities, in particular those of queer artists and the ways they are reflected in art practices.
AI, Immersive Tech & Creativity by Ophelia Jiadai Huang

This session gave us an insight as to how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Immersive Technologies (Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Realities)can be used in creative practices, with hands-on experience facilitated by creators in Europe applying available technologies into creative context, as well as a discussion on the potentials and issues of using these tools at the moment.
