Good Growth Capital raising 2 new funds

Charleston-based venture capital firm Good Growth Capital is raising two new funds to support early stage companies. Good Growth Capital focuses primarily on software and data science companies, and medical, green and agricultural technologies. Its first fund is tracking at a 37% internal rate of return.

East Cooper Medical performs new type of gastroplasty

East Cooper Medical Center recently completed its first endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, a weight loss procedure that takes place inside the stomach without abdominal incisions.

Change in state law affects boat registration procedure

A change in the state law now requires registration and property taxes be paid on boats annually, just like motor vehicles. Previously, taxes were paid every three years. The new law will go into effect in January.

The inaugural RebeccaFest will be held Dec. 12 at Riley Park to celebrate the life of Rebecca Veeck, who died in September from complications of Batten disease. Veeck was the daughter of Charleston RiverDogs executive Mike Veeck.
