Welcoming Revival | By now you’ve probably seen what’s happening at Asbury University. Thousands of students worshipping around the clock. It started rather uneventfully at a regular chapel. One of the students got up to share and confess his sins. What followed was a time of repentance and worship that has stretched out for nearly a month. And it’s spreading to other parts of the country. I don’t know enough about what’s happening or if it’s too early to call this a revival. But judging from some of the cynical responses I’ve seen online, I can say this. Spiritual jealousy is real. I get it. I wish revival would be sparked among middle class 40-somethings like me. But it seems God doesn’t mind using teens and twentysomethings to wake up the church. I pray that is what is happening here. To learn more about what is happening at Asbury, read this on-the-ground report from an Asbury professor: We’re Witnessing a ‘Surprising Work of God’ While you’re at it, check out our free resource on Prayer & Awakening. These practical articles give tools to help ministry leaders start a prayer ministry, create an environment for corporate (and individual) repentance, and cultivate discernment to hear God's voice. |
