Unemployment rate drops; job search requirement reinstated South Carolina’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.2% in February from 5.3% in January as the state announced unemployment insurance claimants must again complete two job searches each week to remain eligible for benefits. Lugoff-Elgin journalism teacher finalist for state award Jenny Proctor, who teaches ninth through 12th grades and is an 18-year education veteran, received $10,000 and advances to the next stage of competition for S.C.
