No images? Click here WHA briefing notes Day 5 of the 74th World Health Assembly The work of the 74th World Health Assembly (WHA) continues today, in Committee A and in Committee B. The morning session will run from 10 am to 1 pm CEST. The afternoon session will run from 2 pm to 5 pm CEST. Detailed programme of work can be found in 6 UN languages here. https://apps.who.int/gb/Journal/e/WHA74/JRN-A74-5_en.html Plenary: It will adopt the following decisions and resolutions that have been agreed in Committee B and A: Committee B: One decision - Health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territory, including east Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan Committee A: three resolutions entitled: - Programme budget 2022-2023 - Reducing the burden of noncommunicable diseases through strengthening prevention and control of diabetes - Oral health And three decisions entitled: - Follow-up of the Political declaration of the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases - The role of the global coordination mechanism on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases in WHO’s work on multi-stakeholder engagement for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases - Integrated people-centred eye care, including preventable vision impairment and blindness Issues on the agenda of the Committee A today (see details in the Daily Journal): · Global action on patient safety · Antimicrobial resistance · Immunization Agenda 2030 Global strategy and plan of action on public health, innovation and intellectual propertySubstandard and falsified medical productsStandardization of medical devices nomenclatureAccording to the Journal, discussions about Public health emergencies: preparedness and response and Mental health preparedness for and response to the COVID-19 pandemic will resume on Saturday 29 May in Committee A. The working hours are from 10:00 to 14:30. Committee B Committee B will discuss several agenda items on managerial, administrative and governance matters, as follows: See Journal During the WHA 74, a series of Strategic Briefings is being held virtually, during which WHA delegates, experts from WHO, partner agencies, and civil society discuss current priorities and next solutions on these vital issues for global public health. Strategic briefings run from 1.10 to 1.50 pm CEST and are live streamed. This session provides an update on how the WHO Health Emergencies Programme is working on transforming policy into practice and action.
