2020 is Not Exactly What I Saw Coming
| 2020 is Not Exactly What I Saw Coming | Even in a pandemic there are some issues and fights that need to press on to continue building momentum to eventually create change. Eat Pray Love author Elizabeth Gilbert’s 2020 isn’t anything like she imagined. In fact, she says this would be the year we could all write a memoir called: Not Exactly What I Saw Coming. Gilbert’s own story would unfold something like this: Global pandemic. Economy in tatters. Travel plans cancelled. A new book unwritten. And finally, a global social justice movement. When talking about the Black Lives Matter movement, Gilbert tells Geraldine Doogue, “We've all been called to our assignment and I feel like, in the millions, it's happening." Heading into the weekend often signals a change of pace. There’s more time to spend in the garden, on our yoga mats or indulging in a book by the fire. (Have you joined our Book Club yet?) Many people will relate to keen gardener Jeff Permar’s frustration about a thief raiding his veggie patch. But would you be driven to set up motion-detection cameras to catch the culprit? There’s no doubt the thief, Chunk the groundhog, can teach us some valuable lessons about gardening and maybe life. Happy weekend! Sarah Scopelianos, Digital Producer.
