The number of people that can attend social gatherings will be slashed to six in England following a rise in coronavirus cases across the UK.
View email online | | | | | Sep 9, 2020 | | | | | | Good evening, It feels like we have turned a corner in the last 24 hours - and not the one we had in mind. As the month of September began, the autumn rains came and the children went back to school, it had begun to feel that maybe, just maybe, there was light at the end of the Covid tunnel. We’d expected hiccups of course. A pandemic was never going to slip away quietly, and with everyone let relatively loose after lockdown there was sure to be problems along the line, particularly when stricter measures began to be introduced locally as spikes showed themselves. But now, with cases spiralling upwards, inferences that a resumed lockdown is not an impossibility and struggling testing labs, it’s all beginning to feel like anything could happen - again. There are less people seriously ill in hospital - that is a fact. But younger people are increasingly being diagnosed. And after the Prime Minister’s chaotic PMQs followed by the press conference yesterday showed, there are more questions than there are answers and we are playing catch-up. In the meantime, we keep calm and we carry on. Regards, Nicola Adam Deputy Editor | |
