Meanwhile, we may be in a celebratory mood, but an important milestone is heading toward us on July19 - and the thorniest issue is masks. You won’t HAVE to wear your mask on the bus or tram from July 19, the Government says, but it would be awfully sensible if you did and each company can make up its own mind. The issue of masks is a divisive one with a number of camps. First there are those who don’t wear them at all because they can’t for medical reasons, or they find them uncomfortable, or reject the premise altogether for ideological reasons plus those who simply forget. Then we have those who will wear them religiously, often out of fear because they themselves are vulnerable, or because they want to protect others as a matter of principle or because they know someone who has fallen victim to Covid 19. It’s an absolute minefield . It’s pretty clear that whichever camp you sit in , without actual laws in place, we will have to respect others' decisions to a point.
