Voodoo Fest's undoing: Last month’s sudden announcement that the popular Voodoo Fest in New Orleans was canceled caught a lot of folks by surprise. But Keith Spera writes today that the fall event’s fate was likely sealed many months before that announcement. Bridge City blues: Gov. John Bel Edwards will discuss the troubled Bridge City Center for Youth during a news conference at 3 p.m. today. At least 26 prisoners have escaped from the youth jail this year, including six on Sunday, and Jefferson Parish officials say enough is enough. We’ll be at the news conference. Stay tuned. It's lit: At some spots across the city, restaurants are being equipped with solar power equipment that will allow them to become little hubs of community support following storms or during prolonged power outages.
