This week’s newsletter is, admittedly, very parent-focused. What can I say, there’s been a lot (more) for parents to worry about over the past week.
From the insurrection (more on how to talk about that below) to what school might look like for our kids next fall, parents have their plates as full as ever.
And what do we tell our kids? Most of this newsletter is dedicated to helping parents figure out how to talk to their kids about a variety of heavy topics. And then there’s the very basic question of what this year holds for us and our families.
That’s why I love this piece by senior reporter Caroline Bologna about what child therapists are telling their kids to expect this year. What does this next chapter of the pandemic look like and how can we best translate that for our kids?
Read on for more very helpful nuggets of wisdom. Until next week, be well! |

The continuing news out of our nation’s capital is deeply upsetting and unsettling. Because we’re all home due to the pandemic, my family was watching the news unfold as it happened. There’s nothing like having to explain what an insurrection is to a 4 year old. This piece by Caroline Bologna helped me frame my thoughts about how to talk about scary news, especially when the outcome is unclear, with my kids. I hope it helps you, too. |
