Tomorrow, celebrate Women’s History Month with a day of delicious food, crafts, and community at Pop-Ups on the Plaza: Celebrating Black Women Makers at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and Embarcadero Ferry Terminal Plaza. Black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the U.S., and the Bay Area is full of examples of women who are leading the way and turning their dreams into realities. Meet talented chefs and designers who are paying homage to their Bay Area roots, bringing new twists to family traditions and recipes, and charting their own paths through their innovation and creativity.

From Soul-fusion brunch and Caribbean pastries to small-batch jams and hot sauces, you'll find delectably crafted foods, as well as beautiful and unique gifts from participants in the Fillmore's In The Black marketplace. Get to know and support these Black women-owned businesses tomorrow!

Tomorrow at 11 am, join us for a Foodwise Demo with Zakiyyah Shaheed, founder of Baby Bean Pie. At 12 pm, join us for a demo with Christina Alexis, founder of The Pleasure Principle Supperclub & Fine Dining Events.

Volunteer of the Month: Benjamin Lei

Benjamin has been a regular volunteer with Foodwise’s cooking demos, sharing the joy of creating dishes with seasonal produce. "I love learning about new ingredients and techniques to make healthy, delicious meals that don’t break the bank," says Benjamin.

At the Foodwise Classroom, Reem Assil demonstrated this springtime salad from her cookbook, Arabiyya, featuring roasted walnuts, preserved lemon, and crispy halloumi cheese.

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Featured Vendors

Brothers Roberto and Manuel Rodriguez run a Certified Organic farm in Watsonville. After a seasonal break, they are back on Tuesdays with strawberries and spring vegetables.

Devil’s Gulch Ranch is a diversified family farm in Marin County run by Myriam Kaplan-Pasternak and Mark Pasternak. On Saturday, pick up spring lamb, quail, squab, and more.

Mission Community Market: Featured Vendors

Between Blue House Farm's two locations in Pescadero and San Gregorio, farmer Ryan Casey grows over 50 types of organic products. Stop by their stand for spring bouquets, strawberries, and artichokes.

Thomas Odermatt founded RoliRoti in 2002, bringing his expertise as a third-generation butcher. On Thursday, pick up a rotisserie chicken, made with Mary's free-range chickens, and a side of juicy potatoes.
