WHAT TO DO? Access to abortions in Louisiana has been denied then restored twice over the past month, amid the legal fight over the law playing out in state courts. In the meantime, without guidance from the state government on what procedures are legal under the new ban, doctors and hospital attorneys are scrambling to understand the current law and what procedures they may - and may not - perform. CAMPAIGN TIME: All but one of Louisiana’s six congressional incumbents enter the Nov. 8 election season with a distinct advantage, now that the qualifying period for the ballot has closed; one of them ended up with no opponents. Chief Justice John Weimer of the state Supreme Court was reelected without opposition, and in local races, the ballots were set for a host of races for judgeships, school boards and municipal governments.
