For the second year in a row, Louisiana escaped hurricane season without suffering any damage. But what's more remarkable: The state never once found itself in the five-day forecast cone in 2023. Mike Smith has a look back at a unique year in hurricanes. Federal prosecutors have indicted a former New Orleans police sergeant on a dozen counts of wire fraud, saying he frequently double billed for on-duty work and off-duty details. Todd Morrell, a brother of City Councilman J.P. Morrell and son of former Orleans Parish Clerk of Criminal Court Arthur Morrell, retired in 2021 after reports he was racing cars on the West Bank or lounging at his house while clocked in for police work. John Simerman has the story. Samyra Miller wowed 70,000-plus fans at the Superdome last week with her rendition of the National Anthem before the Saints' last game of the season against the Falcons.
