Every morning I wake up, reach for my phone, and Google John Prine's name.
We should be gearing up for this giant of American songwriting's return to Australia, following a string of stunning shows last year.
Instead, we're desperately hoping he lives through the deadliest pandemic of our times.
We all know the world has changed. But I'm not sure how prepared I am for how the world will look and sound once this is over.
Artists are dying, and they're dying young. Artists who had more to offer, and who had concrete plans for their next moves.
It is certainly a time to be grateful for what we have.
For the art that already lives and the art that is yet to be created. But forgive me if I'm getting a bit tired of wondering who this thing is going to kill next. |
