What Trump’s Facebook Ban Means, Al-Qaid a’s Limitations in Afghanistan, and More

Yesterday, Facebook’s Oversight Board upheld the decision to ban Donald Trump from its platform. While this move will likely have significant implications for the social media landscape over the coming decade, it may not have momentous consequences for the former president, Elaine Kamarck argues.

Citing concerns about an al-Qaida resurgence, several members of Congress and military advisers opposed President Biden's plans to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. Daniel Byman says that while the U.S. withdrawal will ease pressure on al-Qaida, the group is far from its pre-9/11 strength and is less likely to be able to carry out international terrorist attacks.
