WhatsApp Pay is on the verge of launching in India WhatsApp has created the necessary data storage facilities in India to introduce WhatsApp Pay to the chat app's entire Indian user base — estimated at 350-400 million users. The service is now being audited by the India Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN), and once the audit is complete, WhatsApp can launch WhatsApp Pay throughout India. WhatsApp Pay is seemingly set to overcome the obstacles that prevented it from launching in India after its beta test in 2018, namely privacy-related regulation. Now, a successful launch has the potential to rock the country's mobile payment market. Business Insider Intelligence's Daniel Keyes has the full story. |
