Last week, we unveiled our choices for New Orleans Restaurant of the Year (Commander’s Palace), Louisiana Tastemaker for 2018 (Sal Impastato of Sal & Judy’s) and this year’s picks for New Orleans’ 5 Best New Restaurants and 10 Best Restaurants. All were part of our annual Fall Dining Guide, which also included our Chefs to Watch, Best New Bars and Top 10 Bars features. Suffice it to say that NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune’s food and dining writers ate and drank a lot in an effort to provide this valuable advice on where to satisfy your appetites in New Orleans today. We hope you use these tools in the months ahead, until we get back to work doing it all again. -- Brett

Sipping for the season
Are you getting in the holiday spirit? Christmas will be here before you know it. Now is the time to make a reservation for a New Orleans "winter" tradition: holiday teas. The oldest in town is at the Roosevelt Hotel, which has been hosting its Teddy Bear Tea for 125 years. Other holiday teas can be found at the Ritz-Carlton hotel, the English Tea Room in Covington and even the Creole Queen paddle wheeler on the Mississippi. See our complete list.

What do you do with deer? As in, an entire deer. A member of our Where NOLA Eats group on Facebook needed a good butcher for a deer that her son shot. Although there weren't many suggestions in Orleans Parish, the group did come up with recommended butchers in St. Rose, Slidell and Covington. No matter your food question, this group has an answer.
