A group of people celebrating the schedule release for MozFest House Amsterdam.

Hi,

The moment you've all been waiting for is finally here! We're thrilled to unveil the lineup of sessions for MozFest House Amsterdam, and we wanted you to be among the first to see it.

Check out our featured sessions.

Keynote Speaker

In our last Festival Insider newsletter, we announced that Mona Chalabi will give the keynote presentation!

Mona Chalabi at MozFest House Amsterdam on 12 June

Mona Chalabi, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and data scientist, rehumanizes data through her writing and illustrations, with global recognition and exhibitions at prestigious venues.

At MozFest House Amsterdam, you will hear directly from Mona about the importance and urgency of distilling statistical data, and data in general, into humanized information to make visible social and economic injustice.

Sessions

Sessions

Our interactive sessions and workshops will have you learning, laughing, and maybe even sweating a little (in the best way possible).

  • Investigating the Black Box: In this session, participants will learn about algorithms in journalism and discover ways to improve their investigation methods.
  • Democracy By Design: This session will be a reflection on the June 2024 EU Parliamentary elections, Big Tech’s impact on elections worldwide, and a discussion of what we’ve learned in the first half of this unprecedented year of elections globally. Amidst rapid advancement and adaptation of generative AI, what changes do we see to how voters engage with online electoral messages?
  • Walk n’ Listen with Mozilla’s IRL Podcast: You will join the team behind Mozilla’s award-winning podcast for an outdoor walk that lasts exactly the length of one episode. We’ll finish up in the Ethical Dilemma Café with a beverage and a chat about the episode.

Art Installations

A group of people celebrating the schedule release for MozFest House Amsterdam.

Enter the world of creativity with stunning art installations, guaranteed to spark your imagination.

Emoticons don’t have wrinkles

Luna Mauer promotes friction for innovation and meaningful engagement, challenging techno-optimism with her alternative perspective and yellow emoji face.

Mapping the Oblivion

Mapping the Oblivion is a series of (art) works by Julia Janssen that are searching for the state between frictionlessness and the right to be forgotten. If we increasingly live within the mere margins of algorithms, then what does it mean to be human?

Live performance in the age of AI

From candlelight to Pepper’s ghost, the printing press to the internet, theater has always embraced emergent technologies to tell and share its stories. For over a decade, the Royal Shakespeare Company has been committed to exploring the future of performance, and what these new forms and tools mean for how artist make and engage audiences.

MI: Mycelium Intelligence

The installation created by Rill Studio is a representation of mycelium networks to explore the potential of artificial intelligence to learn from and collaborate with natural systems. Participants will be able to engage with the installation and explore the parallels between mycelium networks and artificial intelligence, emphasizing connectivity, adaptability, and collaboration.

And that's just the start! We've got installations, performances, and surprises around every corner.
