LAX LOCKUP: Sheriff Susan Hutson says a critical staffing shortage played a role in the weekend deaths of two men held at the Orleans Justice Center. But she won’t say just how many deputies were on duty at the time, or whether any were physically present when a fatal fight erupted among four inmates or when another inmate leaped to his death.
