A virtual press briefing with simultaneous translation in all UN languages with the participation of the WHO Director-General is planned for next week. World Malaria Report

The World malaria report 2021 launches Monday revealing that the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted malaria services, leading to a marked increase in cases and deaths. Global and regional briefing kits summarizing key findings are available on this embargoed Canto platform. All materials are strictly embargoed until 14:00 CET (Geneva) on Monday.

SAGE Meeting

A virtual meeting for the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) will take place Tuesday to propose recommendations to WHO on the use of COVID-19 vaccine(s). More here.

WHO at the Nutrition for Growth Summit

At the Nutrition for Growth Summit, WHO will be announcing commitments via remarks from WHO's Director-General on Wednesday, Day 1. On Thursday, Day 2, at 11:40 AM CET WHO will be leading Session 1 entitled, Mobilizing Nutrition in Universal Health Coverage. The session will focus on how scaling up nutrition services can lead to greater well-being, more equitable development and leaving no one behind.

8th ACT-Accelerator Facilitation Council meeting

The 8th ACT-Accelerator Facilitation Council meeting will be held on Thursday to take stock of progress towards the global targets for access to COVID-19 tools & identify urgent political actions to accelerate their achievement. WHO Ambassador for Global Health Financing Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, is expected to speak. More here.

Launch of Global Report 'State of Equity in
HIV, TB and Malaria'

A new report from WHO and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, will be released Thursday. The report is the first systematic global analysis of the state of inequality across different aspects of the three diseases, highlighting opportunities to strengthen the impact of inequality monitoring. New data on country policies to protect
women and girls from violence

Next Friday, on Human Rights Day and the last day of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, WHO will launch a new report, documenting the extent to which countries’ policies are addressing violence against women and girls. This monitors both the existence of national actions plans to address this violence, in line with international commitments and human rights law, as well as specific health sector policies and clinical guidelines that enable quality healthcare for survivors. Universal Health Coverage Day 2021

Universal Health Coverage Day is an opportunity to review progress and identify gaps in ensuring that everyone, everywhere, can access the health care they need, close to where they live and without falling into financial hardship. It is also a day to focus on what needs to happen next to achieve continuous, concrete progress towards a fairer and healthier world. WHO will release the latest data on universal health coverage, which underscore the impact of COVID-19 on health systems and services worldwide, and show how countries are working to tackle this.
