Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival, bringing benefits that last throughout life. However, nearly 2 out of 3 infants are not exclusively breastfed for the recommended six months—a rate that has not improved in two decades. WHO recommends that infants are breastfed exclusively - with nothing else to eat or drink - for six months, and that they then continue to breastfeed (alongside eating healthy family foods) for two years or longer. This year, the Organization is producing a suite of new informational materials to support breastfeeding women, responding to common questions and concerns. Sign up for our newsletters here.
