The Battle of the Century: UFC vs. 1,200 of Its Own Fighters

The UFC is turning 30. On Saturday, they’re celebrating this milestone with a fight at Madison Square Garden. Next year, they’re throwing an even bigger bash: UFC 300, where Conor McGregor could make his long-awaited return to the Octagon.

But all of this pales in comparison to the company’s biggest battle yet: Le v. Zuffa, a class-action antitrust lawsuit representing 1,200 fighters with a trial date set for April 8. The UFC could face $4.8 billion in damages, a radical change to how they do business and potentially an end to their domination in the world of mixed martial arts.

How did we get here? The saga starts with a fighter known as “The Westside Strangler,” UFC CEO Dana White, and a mysterious online commenter using the handle “Macedawgg.”

Buckle up.
