Max bounces back from qualifying setback
| Max Verstappen’s daring attack at the first corner of the Mexican Grand Prix was his biggest statement of intent yet, and shows he’s truly determined to beat Lewis Hamilton to this year’s F1 World Championship. As points leader coming into the race, he had the most to lose if there had been a clash – especially if pole-winner Valtteri Bottas had touched him. Instead, it was Bottas himself who was sent spinning by Daniel Ricciardo, as Max overcame his shock qualifying defeat at the hands of the Mercedes duo with one audacious move. A title-defining manoeuver? Time will tell, as there’s plenty of racing left in this season yet. And there will come a time when front-foot attack isn’t the best policy, so can Max play it smart too?
