Good morning, Welcome to Monday's Scotsman newsletter. In our opinion section this morning the thorny issue of anti-English sentiment in Scotland is examined by our columnist Brian Monteith. Brian says it is for Nicola Sturgeon "to condemn the anti-English bile in her party or beyond – and she could start at this weekend’s SNP conference by inviting more English people to come to Scotland...We need immigrants, don’t we?" Is enough being done by the First Minister to curb anti-Englishness in our country? Do you disagree with Brian's points? Have your say in the article comments. UK Government plans to impose a National Insurance increase have put them on a collision course with members of The Scottish Government. Young people are being forced to pay the price of Westminster failure, the SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford claimed, warning Boris Johnson's plans to hike National Insurance will unfairly hammer young people, low-paid workers and Scottish families. Mr Blackford’s comments come as the SNP prepares to unveil its Programme for Government on Tuesday. The Scottish Conservatives have called for Scotland’s economic recovery to be the focus, with key targets set in job creation rates and economic growth. |
