Sugar is the devil. And I danced the cha cha with it on Thanksgiving. Bourbon and chocolate pecan pie. Cousin Mitzy’s cinnamon rolls (oh that icing!). Sweet potato pie. Dark chocolate covered mango slices on my charcuterie tray and (the worst of them all) several handfuls of white chocolate trash mix -- rice cereal, peanuts, plain M&Ms and pretzels coated with white chocolate. By the night’s end, I was in the fetal position on the couch, cursing my lack of discipline. So I read with interest today’s Health & Wellness story about curbing sugar cravings. I do not need to spiral into diabetes. (I’m already at risk for that owing to my family health history.) I need to get a handle on this. And my first step will be going to Vons later today and stocking up on kale, spinach, cashews and almonds, and purple potatoes. How was your Thanksgiving holiday? Let me know! And if you enjoy this brief, tell others so they can benefit also.
