, Ukrainian families are living in fear every day
Dear Supporter,
Right now, Ukrainians are separated from their loved ones and fearing the worst every day.
When the full-scale war broke out, Alona's village in Zaporizhzhia came under attack. Alona recalls hiding in the bathroom with her two children. Her five-year-old daughter, Natalia, asked her: “Will we live, Mum?”
Soon after, Alona decided to flee with the children, leaving her father and other family members behind. She constantly worries for their safety.
Supporter, this is the reality for countless families that have been torn apart by conflict. They don’t know if their loved ones will survive or when the war will end.
UNHCR has been on the ground throughout the war, delivering life-saving aid to those in need – but the situation is only getting tougher with each passing day.
Attacks continue to kill people, destroy homes and force families to flee with little notice. At the same time, UNHCR is facing a devastating funding shortfall which puts Ukrainians’ lives at risk.
Without more funding:
77,000 Ukrainians will go without essential items such as blankets and mattresses 51,000 Ukrainians won’t have safe shelter in the aftermath of missile strikes 140,000 Ukrainians won’t receive the financial aid they need to buy food, medicine and clothing
