Baltimore City Public Schools CEO Sonja Santelises recommended five school closures during the annual 2016-17 school portfolio review. The career counseling and support program is open to any student in Kalamazoo Public Schools, but last year mentors focused solely on African American boys, whose graduation rate is the lowest of any group at the district. Financial analysts at one Wall Street rating agency dropped Chicago Public Schools' credit rating again, less than a week before the district is expected to sell hundreds of millions of dollars in long-term bonds. The Florida Department of Education wants to know more about why a high number of students chose to stay at four under performing schools in Duval County, even though they could have moved. Michael Raso, currently serving as the Bettendorf Community District interim superintendent, was initially hired by the district in July 2008 as the assistant superintendent. The Averill Park Board of Education has appointed James Franchini as the New York district's next superintendent.
