Well over 12,000 people in the U.S have died of coronavirus, and the country is nearing 400,000 cases. But Wisconsin forced voters to risk their health and cast their vote in person Tuesday after two top courts sided with Republicans who objected to efforts to postpone the election and/or extend the absentee ballot deadline.

“Stop playing politics with our lives,” said one voter, who wore a face mask as she waited in a long line.

Results of Wisconsin’s presidential primary, as well as several downballot races, won’t be released until April 13.

Asked to comment on Wisconsin’s election, President Trump derided mail-in ballots as “corrupt.” When NBC News reporter Carol Lee pointed out that he himself had voted by mail in Florida’s election, Trump replied, “Because I’m allowed to.”
