The Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal has made people increasingly aware they're being tracked. This makes it harder for ad tech companies, largely unknown to the public, to gain consent to track people under the looming General Data Protection Regulation. While some advertisers have pulled ads from Facebook in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, beer brewer Carlsberg is sticking with the platform. To ensure it can continue targeting ads after the GDPR is enforced, GroupM is pressuring publishers to sign a new data protection contract that could force them to share control of their audience data with it.
