Area colleges receive annual rankings
Several Central Massachusetts colleges landed in the upper third of a U.S. News and World Report ranking of best colleges in the country. Two Worcester colleges - Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Clark University - landed in the upper third of the best national university rankings, placing 61st and 81st, respectively, out of 311 total schools. The College of the Holy Cross took the 33rd spot on the list of best liberal arts colleges. The University of Massachusetts Medical School was ranked 14th nationally for primary care education, and tops in New England.
Worcester's AdCare hospital sold
A Tennessee-based addiction treatment practice with treatment centers throughout the country has acquired Worcester-based AdCare for $85 million. AAC Holdings will take over AdCAre's nine locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including hospitals in Worcester and North Kingstown, R.I.
American Heritage Museum in Stow starts construction
Construction has begun on the Collings Foundation's planned 65,000-square-foot American Heritage Museum in Stow. The new museum will be home to exhibits from the country's past military conflicts, including the country's largest private collection of military vehicles.
