🌊  WORKING FOR BITCOIN

NFL Defensive End Alex Barrett Is Taking 100% Of His Salary In Bitcoin
By Shawn Amick

Alex Barrett, defensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers, has officially partnered with Bitwage to receive 100% of his paycheck in bitcoin.

It has been a while since we have seen this type of news which became popular a year ago while the price was surging, but at these prices, it takes more than bravery; it takes conviction.

It may sound crazy and complicated, but the truth is simple. Bitwage allows anyone in the world to get paid in bitcoin without needing to onboard their employer. By linking a bank account to Bitwage, once the money is paid by the employer, Bitwage converts the money to bitcoin, in the amount determined by the user, and sends it to a bitcoin address of the users desire.

“When I came down to Miami, I saw the Bitcoin revolution in-person. I was bullish before, but something shifted in me. “I was completely sold, and getting to meet the Bitwage team was great. They treated me like their number-one priority, even before I was technically their client.” –  Alex Barrett

💻 UPGRADING BITCOIN

How Bitcoin Should Be Upgraded In The Future
By Shinobi

The deployment of changes to improve the Bitcoin Core protocol is by no means easy. The consensus of the majority of the network participants is required in order to have a safe and non-disruptive upgrade of the protocol.

If consensus is achieved and no disagreement is found among nodes, the chain will experience a soft fork and the agreed upon blockchain will be valid. Conversely, if nodes can’t find compatibility, a hard fork is presented and two different chains begin existing side by side.

The author of this article explains some of the past activation mechanisms proposed and used before getting into how he personally thinks upgrades should be handled going forward. He writes about BIP9, BIP148 and UASF (user activated soft-fork), BIP91, BIP8 and more.

Bitcoin Is Venice: Soil And Yield
By Allen Farrington And Sacha Meyers

This is an article in a series of adapted excerpts from the book “Bitcoin Is Venice” by Allen Farrington and Sacha Meyers. In this chapter, the concepts of civilization, agriculture, conservationism, capital, soil and erosion are brought into discussion to demonstrate how mankind, since sedentism started, has always struggled with the consequences of farming and soil usage for crops production.

However, even though soil erosion has always been a permanent feature of the struggle to sustain civilization, the last half century has been particularly and specifically worse than the rest of human history. Coincidentally, with the end of the gold standard and the beginning of the fiat system, extreme soil erosion has degraded an area of agricultural land equivalent to the size of China and India combined in just a few decades. Bitcoin could be a useful tool to fix extreme and irresponsable environmental damage.

MEME OF THE DAY

By Simply Bitcoin TV

The way of the Bitcoiner is one of patience and low time-preference. It is often that as Bitcoiners, we sit together with friends explaining the benefits and potential of Bitcoin as an open and decentralized monetary network, answering every single doubt and concern people may have until sparking curiosity within them.

But sometimes, people just need to get their hands burnt to realize the stove is hot.
