Editor's Notes It's Friday, Baltimore. Before you launch your weekend, reflect with me for a moment. On Wednesday, my note here asked what technology or workplace stories from Technical.ly would be helpful for you to read, in response to the ongoing violence we see against communities of color across the country. This response from a reader in Maryland stood out to me:" As a black man, if I worked for a car or cell phone maker, I would ask: Can we make an inexpensive, phone-based, video recording and transmission system, operating when activated through lenses within and without the car, for up to an hour, observing and recording what the driver is experiencing during a police stop? When this is ready, sign me up for a complimentary unit, OK?" If you know of any solutions like this or others that take on racism, we want to hear about it. Respond here or email baltimore@technical.ly, as always. And if you're looking for some viewing recommendations for this weekend, consider my colleague Na'Tosha Wyles suggestion of Netflix's "Two Distant Strangers," which explores the racial dynamics at the heart of our society's continued struggle. — Technical.ly Managing Editor Julie Zeglen (julie@technical.ly) |
