Companies are scrambling to secure US-mined lithium |
|
|
| In the 1990s, the United States produced over a quarter of the world's lithium. Now, it's less than 1%. With only one functioning lithium mine, Silver Lake, the US is struggling to meet its ever-growing lithium demands for EVs and utility-scale battery storage. Fortunately, the US ranks fifth in global lithium reserves, with increasing discoveries. To stimulate domestic production, the government has invoked the Defense Production Act, offering massive tax incentives to critical mineral miners and battery manufacturers. |

Off the coast of Greece, where it sank in 1942, the wreck of a British World War II submarine that contributed to the development of special military operations has been discovered.
Kostas Thoctarides, a seasoned Greek diver, shared on social media that his team had found the HMS Triumph wreck in the Aegean Sea, "ten of kilometers" off Cape Sounion, at a depth of roughly 666 feet (203 meters).
According to Thoctarides, the sub was in a diving position when it sank because of the wreck's closed hatches and retractable periscope.
One of the search team members, Rena Giatropoulou Thoctarides, shared that the fore section had been badly damaged by an explosion that almost certainly sank the submarine. But it wasn't clear if that explosion was external — perhaps from a depth charge or naval mine — or internal, which means it could have been caused by an explosion by one of the sub's own torpedoes.
The team is now working with submarine and torpedo experts.

More Democrats are beginning to express their comfort level with Kamala Harris becoming president, should Biden not be able to fulfill his duties. According to a recent poll, 87% of voters who identify as Democrats who support Biden said they are “very” or “somewhat” comfortable with Kamala Harris taking over as president if needed. With that notion starting to get tossed around by the Democratic party, some political experts and fellow politicians are beginning to question the real motive behind Biden’s reelection campaign. House Democrats dismissed allegations of impropriety against President Biden on Tuesday, while defending his administration for charging former President Donald Trump with crimes. Republicans in Congress have seized on an FBI document that they say shows Biden received $5 million from Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company that gave his son Hunter a seat on its board while Biden was vice president. A whistleblower has also allegedly come forward to congressional Republicans claiming to have audio recordings of a Burisma executive bribing Biden. The allegations against Biden come as Trump, the front-runner for the Republican nomination to face Biden in 2024, entered a not guilty plea in a Miami court on Tuesday while facing 37 criminal counts. A grand jury voted on the charges after a months-long investigation by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed by Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland. House Democrats, including Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) and Jason Crow (D-Colo.), dismissed the allegations against Biden while criticizing Trump. The charges against Trump are the latest development in a long-running investigation into his business dealings. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has called the investigation a "witch hunt." It's a great time to find inexpensive and underappreciated stocks with potential when the stock market stabilizes and inflation declines. The current market turmoil has driven several equities to lower levels, making it an excellent opportunity to buy them at a bargain. Value traps are a popular investment strategy among undervalued stocks with potential. Or businesses that appear affordable or alluring based on their prior trading locations. However, these stocks frequently continue to decline for various correct or fundamental reasons as investors turn to other options in specific industries. A property owner recently captured disturbing footage on a trail camera that she believes shows two real-life witches. Corinea Stanhope said she set up the camera near her home for security reasons and because her horses always seemed spooked and unnerved. There was also a dead deer on her property, so she wanted to see if any animals were nearby that could be the reason for spooking the horses. But she caught some disturbing footage that she did not expect to see. Two scantily-clad individuals appeared on camera one night and were looking at a dead deer carcass. The individuals were described as disheveled and wearing wigs. But what they did with the deer carcass was the most disturbing, and is why they’ve been labeled as witches. (read more) |

High school students at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California went viral recently after they recorded a video in their math class showing their classmates groaning and protesting as their teacher played a “Pride Month” video. The students can be heard saying “Stop,” “Turn it off,” and “Why are you showing this to kids?" The video starts with a rainbow flag flying with the words "Pride Month" on screen. Two women are then shown embracing and touching noses while other images of LGBTQ couples play on the screen. The teacher is heard scolding the students and saying, "Hey I’ll warn you guys now, if you’re going to be inappropriate, I will have supervision down and give all of you Saturday school for [indiscernible]. So knock it off.” Here’s what happened after parents got wind of the video and a prominent conservative picked it up. (read more) |
