| Cops are in riot gear. Kids are dancing. Everyone's smoking pot. In Washington Square Park, it feels more like a return to the Swinging Sixties than the Roaring Twenties these days. Or, should we say, nights... Needless to say, the pounding music, illicit activities, and incidents of violence have left the moneyed residents of the area less-than-pleased. But despite the eruption of complaints and resulting police clashes, organizers of the wild gatherings say they aren't backing down. |
