Yanko Design - Form Beyond Function |
Posted: 09 Dec 2016 12:16 PM PST Designers seem to show a lot of love towards Audi. Scan through YD and you’ll find it decorated with Audi concepts ranging from the obvious automobiles all to now even consumer appliances! Adding to that ever growing list of conceptual Audi designs is the Audi iron by Jaehyuk Lim. The Audi brand is all about superiority and dominance and the iron design does that with its space-age form language! A recessed LED strip on the base illuminates when switched on, also serving as a color indication of the temperature. I assume the way the steam escapes from the underside of the iron adds to the drama of the futuristic lighting. Sounds like something Audi would do, right?! P.S. You can’t miss the ever so charismatic chrome logo on the front of the iron. Gives it almost the feel of a car, driving forwards and backwards on your clothes! Designer: Jaehyuk Lim |

Posted: 09 Dec 2016 03:00 AM PST Every passing second is a unique moment in time that will never exist again. The Etch clock is a reminder of this sentiment and encourages us to make the most of time. There’s something incredibly soothing and visually pleasing about watching it (so don’t miss it in action in the video!). The minimalistic desk top design utilizes a an elastic membrane that displays the time in a smooth, relaxing actuation. After the time is displayed, the membrane will return to a blank canvas, reminding us of the passing moment as we look forward to the next. Posted: 09 Dec 2016 12:32 AM PST Futuristic yet oh-so-refined, the Axis lounger redefines modern luxury with its avant-garde base and polished pillows. The design takes inspiration from military aircraft and its rippled cushions feature the same Indian orange leather lining found in MA-1 bomber jackets. As for that elegant arc base, it’s formed by 5 unibody legs and helps the center of mass in the human supine position fall in the middle of sofa for enhanced ergonomics. Designer: Mike Voropaev |
Sophisticated Outside, Party Inside! Posted: 09 Dec 2016 12:00 AM PST This proposal for the Barcelona Tramway aims to reflect the core values of the city and the energy that keeps it moving. The exterior is streamlined yet subtle with a futuristic appeal that isn’t overtly loud. Inside, however, the choice of colors and textures refer to the city’s peculiar architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Designer: Damien Loreaux |
Posted: 08 Dec 2016 02:00 PM PST Don’t be surprised if you have a group of friends over and they’re absolutely baffled as they try to connect their phones to the Ooino and play some music. That’s because the Ooino isn’t a Bluetooth speaker. It’s a refrigerator! Designed to look absurdly different, I guarantee you’ve never seen any fridge this radical looking! The Ooino has a horizontal layout as opposed to most fridges today. It behaves exactly like most fridges, which bodes well for something this different looking! The fridge comes with a dock that it nestles in when it needs to charge (yes, it’s portable). All controls lie on the fridge door/lid. The dock comes with a solitary standby button. The redesigned fridge also serves as a table, with its upper surface providing ample space for laying out a full spread. This works wonderfully for outdoor picnics as well as homes that want to save on space and integrate appliances and furniture. Plus, with its fresh, quirky design, it’ll add an element of conversation to your home too! Designer: JaeYoung Kim |
